How do I set up mIRC
Solution
mIRC available from www.mirc.com is set up in the following way:
Create a FreeProxy User
Create a FreeProxy SOCKS5 port
Stop and start FreeProxy
Configure mIRC
Step 1: Create a FreeProxy User
From the FreeProxy Control Centre, select the Users button.
Click on the User's node, and press Add
Note: Use your own user name and password.
Click "Done" to save the user.
Click "Done" to end Users and Groups
Step 2: Create a FreeProxy SOCKS 5 port
From the FreeProxy Control Centre, click the "Port" button.
Note: you only have to create a SOCKs 5 port if you haven't already done so. You may create more than one SOCKS port as long as the client port numbers are unique.
Note: you will have a different IP address to the one shown in the diagram above.
Click "Done"
Step 3: Stop and start FreeProxy
From the FreeProxy Control Centre
Select Save.
Click Start/Stop
Stop the FreeProxy control centre and then start it again for the changes to be effective.
Step 4: Configure mIRC
In mIRC, select Tools -> Options.
Click on the "Connect" category, and then "Firewall" within that.
Firewall support: Server
Protocol: Socks 5
HostName: Your hostname or IP address running FreeProxy.
User ID: The User Name you created in Step 1.
Password: The password associated with the user created in Step 1.
